Meghan Brace
Designer
President
Meghan went to Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA where she received a BFA in fashion design with a minor in art history. She started to sew in the 7th grade. Her mother always had a sewing machine set up in the house and Meghan therefore always wanted to learn. She wanted to make her own clothes so that she could have something "different" then everyone else. Meghan also grew up an athlete and had an athletic build and found it easier to find clothes to fit if she custom made them for herself!

Meghan really likes to look at different artists for inspiration. "Isamu Noguchi is one of my favorite. I really like his use of shape. I also look to different objects in nature to find new shape and form to bring that into clothing"

Meghan's first job in design was with Robert Danes where she interned for them while in college and started two days after graduation. "I learned so much at the Danes as I was able to experience every aspect of the business first hand in a smaller setting."

Meghan's dream has always been to have her own clothing line. "All through high school and college, all of my peers always said they could see me with my own line one day." The look of Ann Alyse is almost like that of an updated basic...taking key pieces of a woman's wardrobe and making them an "urban glam" -- a form of a garment that can be worn everyday to work or to play but it has a sophisticated edge."

"I changed jobs in the industry whenever I could to grow and learn other areas of the business. I feel that most of my success is that I have worked in various areas of the industry...I have done everything from design to sales. I think sales was where I actually learned the most as I worked with the buyers first hand and realized that you could have the most outrageous designs, but you really need to know how to make it so it can be saleable!"

Meghan has tried all areas of the design industry as well everything from accessories to bridal to menswear. "It has a lot to do with your drive and your determination. This is something I have wanted so I am willing to work very hard to make it happen."

"Ann Alyse originates from my mothers middle name, Ann and my middle name Alyse. My mother was who supported me and encouraged me in all of my design from day one. Unfortunately, she passed away but in every garment I make she is a part of, just as she would be if she were here -- my constant support and encouragement. Also the Ann stems from my Aunt Ann who was the person who taught me how to sew!"
